WHY I READ IT
If Tijan writes it, I will read it. I am a huge fan of her work and based of the blurb I had a feeling this book will fall along the lines of her Fallen Crest series, which is one of my all time favorites, so I knew I needed to read this book.
WHAT I RATED IT
WHAT IT’S ABOUT
He told me to ‘settle, girl.’
He asked if ‘something was wrong with me?’
He said I was an ‘easy target.’
That was within minutes when I first met Caden Banks.
I labeled him an *sshole, but he was more than that. Arrogant. Smug. Alpha.
He was also to-die-for gorgeous, and my stepbrother’s fraternity brother.
Okay, yes I was a little naive, a tad bit socially awkward, and the smallest amount of stalker-ish, but if Caden Banks thought he could tell me what to do, he had another thing coming.
I came to college with daydreams about being with my stepbrother, but what if I fell for the anti-stepbrother instead?
Tijan has this way of writing characters that you love from the moment they open their mouth. They’re strong, self-sufficent, none traditional, amazing characters that draw you in and never let you go. Her story-lines are not your typical romance story, they’re filled with twists and turns, everything has a deeper meaning, and you really have to think if you want to figure out what is going on before it’s revealed.
Caden and Summer are incredible character’s. Summer was the kind of heroine that I loved to find in a book. She was who she was and it didn’t matter if you didn’t like it. She did have time for that kind of negativity in her life. Caden was like other Tijan book boyfriends. Commanding, self assured, cocky, and not afraid to do what needed to be done.
Beyond Caden and Summer’s story was a group of incredible secondary characters that I found myself equally invested in. I need more from them, we got a glimpse of their world and it wasn’t nearly enough. This book is being marketed as a stand-alone but, I really, really hope that Tijan decides to make it into a series. Because while I loved all that this book was, I felt like the ending came too abruptly and there was more that needed to be said and done.
If you haven’t read a book by Tijan yet feel free to start here. You won’t be disappointed but, you will be searching her amazon page for next new read!
I didn’t begin writing until after undergraduate college. There’d been storylines and characters in my head all my life, but it came to a boiling point one day and I HAD to get them out of me. So the computer was booted up and I FINALLY felt it click. Writing is what I needed to do. After that, I had to teach myself how to write. I can’t blame my teachers for not teaching me all those years in school. It was my fault. I was one of the students that was wishing I was anywhere but at school! So after that day, it took me lots of work until I was able to put together something that resembled a novel. I’m hoping I got it right since someone must be reading this profile! And I hope you keep enjoying my future stories.
