This year I entered the world of blogging courtesy of Jenn and Jacque who took a chance on this fan of romance. Because of them, I read some amazing books this year. I read a lot of books out of my perceived comfort zone (Indebted series, Kane Trilogy, etc.) and loved them! I was also introduced to so many new favorite authors – Aleatha Romig, L.D. Davis, J.L. Berg. And I attended my first signing!! I cannot wait for 2016 because I’ve seen what’s coming out and it’s going to be awesome.
Forgetting August by J.L. Berg – This is my top pick not because it gave me all of the feels but because it’s a great story. Forgetting August is an interesting twist on second chances and even though it has a cliffhanger, I was still satisfied with the story that J.L. Berg told. And, I call dibs on August Kincaide.
Accidentally on Purpose by L.D. Davis – WHOA! This was an emotional read for me. I have never connected to characters on such an emotional and personal level before. Thank you Jacque, for the recommendation!
Denial by Lisa Renee Jones – I am a big fan of LRJ and the Inside Out series and I was finally happy that Ella’s story was going to be told. The story was awesome and filled with suspense. Not to mention the writing – I really felt like this was some of LRJ’s best work.
Nuts by Alice Clayton – If you’re going to read rom-coms, you might as well read Alice Clayton. I feel like she is the queen of rom-coms. This story is hilarious and sexy! I absolutely loved it and know that it will be a constant re-read.
Worthy of Redemption and Worth the Fight by L.D. Davis – Worthy of Redemption and Worth the Fight continued to gut me emotionally. I mean, we’re talking Kim Kardashian ugly cry. I don’t read stories like this because I already have enough feels in my life but my god, these characters…. Emmy is one of my favorites of all time. I felt like she was truly the first character that I connected with on a personal level.
Glimmer and Glow by Beth Kery – Glimmer and Glow were outstanding reads for me. I love the world that Beth Kery creates for her characters to live in and I love her characters because they are so complex. I love the story she tells in Glimmer and Glow because it’s truly about redemption and finding your true self.
Betrayal by Aleatha Romig – Aleatha Romig is now one of my favorite authors. I absolutely loved Betrayal. The story is so intriguing and interesting. Another cliffhanger but still, the story itself satisfied me and left me panting for more.
Consequences and Truth by Aleatha Romig – Another Jacque recommendation! No other couple has gotten me fired up like Claire and Tony. The story is so unique and I love that Aleatha Romig gives her readers such a complex story with characters that will literally make you toss your Kindle. I could talk about this series for days and that’s why it’s amazing. And yes, I’m still not on Team Tony.
Sincerely, Carter by Whitney G – I love a good friends-to-lovers story and this is one of the best. It’s sweet and sexy and surprising. I love the added correspondence between Carter and Arizona too. Another re-read after I’ve read too many dark and twisty stories.
Tattooed Emotions by Alicia Rae – I don’t read overtly emotional stories and this one deals with a very emotional storyline – cancer. But as I read it on a short flight home, I fell in love with the story and with the characters. Not to mention the writing! This is such a well-written story and sometimes that makes the difference.
Property Of by CP Smith – Hot. Cop. Suspense. Perfect elements for a great story. If you don’t like insta-love, then don’t read this. But I don’t mind it when it’s done right and CP Smith does insta-love and hot cop right.
Big Girls Do It by Jasinda Wilder – I read this because Jasinda Wilder was going to be at my first signing. I’m totally glad I did. It’s smart, sexy, sassy and totally relatable. I have never met a leading lady who is so sexually free but also curvy, like me. I love Anna and her complicated love triangle.
