These were pretty easy to pick out for me this year even though I feel like I cheated a bit having two series count as one pick! I did not read as much as I normally this year but I read some AMAZING books!
Cassie’s Top Reads of 2017
Another Postcard by Elle Christensen
This book is above all other “rocker” books. The detail of the operations and lifestyle are so intricate you will feel like an expert by the end of this book. This books exudes high energy, love, lust, angst, and a whole lot of suspense.
Drumline by Stacy Kestwick
Sometimes I like to read super hot and heavy books. Sometimes I need all the plot and fade to black with some good banter in between. Hardly ever do I get both in one book, but drumline nailed it. Laird is quite the dirty talker and Reese has a quick wit about her. Also, the details of how a drumline works are completely accurate and the amount of gratefulness I have for that is too much to explain.
Rebel by Rebecca Yarros
This is my favorite read of 2017. It is not often I have a definitive favorite but Rebel won by a landslide. This book, to me, shows what a REAL feminist should act like. She is strong and tough, but knows the limits of her heart and isn’t afraid to let those emotions show. This book is inspiring as a young female who wants to pave her own path.
Instigation by Tessa Teevan
This book is the start of the triangles of all triangles! It is like Rafe and Adrian are the angel and devil on Brie’s shoulder personified. I was so glad the second part of this book was already out.
Escalation by Tessa Teevan
Just when I thought the first book was crazy… the second book amped up the mystery and high stakes up to eleven. There are no dull moments in this book and I cannot wait to read the conclusion when it comes out.
Passing Peter Parker by J.D. Hollyfield
I honestly stumbled on this book because she was coming to a signing in Chicago and I am very glad I did. It is a novella so it was a nice quick read when I was going to be in the car a lot one day. This book is HILARIOUS. The heroine in this book has an inner monologue that just won’t stop making you roll will laughter!
A Boy Like You by Ginger Scott
It is no secret that I love YA and sports romance so when it gets combined I am in HEAVEN. This book follows two all-stars and the slightly messed life they live. What sets this book apart from the other books I have met is the little bit of mystique/magic that belongs to the hero of this story.
Nova by Rebecca Yarros
I had not read many extreme sports books before I read this and the one that I have read didn’t really focus on the sport itself… so this second book in the Renegades Series really gave me a glimpse into what it would be like. Nova is cocky and all bravado on the outside… but he is a hot molten mess on the inside without his one true match. This book is scary, hot, and the heroine’s hilarious one-liners will keep you enamored in this book.
The Ivy Years Part One by Sarina Bowen
I have read 1-3 and I cannot wait to start the new year with this gang. This is another individual stories within a setting so it was easy to be interested. What made me fall in love was the authors ability to vividly paint a picture of this beautiful east coast college and describe the character in such detail you swear they are real. The plots are well developed and and tight. Not to mention this series popped my M/M cherry!
The Mine Series by K. Langston
I read this series first thing in 2017 and it was the best way to start out my year. These are all standalone books within the same “universe.” These are my favorite kinds of series because I get new characters with totally different personalities each book as well as continuing to get to know them all as side characters in other books. These books are primarily set in the south so if you love the twang and all things country these books are worth the try.
