WHY I READ IT
Fire on Ice is an awesome series!! I needed more!
WHAT I RATED IT
WHAT IT’S ABOUT
One bad hit has left the career of young NHL Center Luke Hudson in question. When he arrives for rehab with a minor league team, his injury has robbed him of the edge that made him great.
Team trainer Adella Price’s job is to help Luke get back in peak condition. But their one on one sessions shake her resolve to remain unattached. Dell is hands-off to all hockey players, even one as charming and successful as Luke.
As Luke starts to get ahold of his game again, he loses his grip on his heart. Helping Luke get his edge back brings to light what Dell is missing from her life. But those who want them apart are relentless, and with their careers on the line, Luke and Dell must decide if their love is worth risking it all.
One word…. SCORCHING! Luke Hudson was a secondary character in Bound and Captive, in the background as Ryke’s best friend, but here he is front and center. Luke gets injured badly during a game and once he completes his physical therapy, he heads to a minor league to rehab and get ready to play in the NHL again. It’s there he meets the teams trainer, Adella (Dell).
Dell and Luke have chemistry for days! Right from the start, they are attracted to each other. The problem? The team has a zero fraternization policy. As much as Dell and Luke want to be with each other, neither can jeopardize their position with the team. That doesn’t mean they give up. With sex not being a factor, they slowly build their relationship. They get to know each other on a level that is real. Even without the sex, their sexual tension is OFF THE CHARTS. Two scenes, the texting conversation on the bus and the shower scene, will have you in need of a panty change…. And they never even lay a hand on each other.
Luke and Dell are outstanding characters. Dell, having grown up in the hockey world and with a father who wasn’t exactly warm and fuzzy, she holds her own with the guys. She is strong and sharp and takes no crap. Luke is seriously charming. He’s a famous hockey player, but when playing in the minor leagues, he doesn’t act better than the other guys and really enjoys being there. He was always the guy taking the random girl home, living up the life as a single guy… until he meets Dell. It’s then he understands what Ryke and Kate have…. And he wants that for himself. He decides he will fight like heck to get it and keep it. I love the determination between Luke and Dell. Even when they think they have it all figured out, and another wrench gets tossed between them, they NEVER give up. It’s refreshing to have two characters who don’t fold at the slightest issue. They are unwavering in their struggle to be together. Brenda Rothert knows how to write real emotion and have it come across beautifully on the page. You will be rooting for Luke and Dell to get their happy ending from the very start.
