Even the Score by Beth Ehemann – Jenn’s Review

Love this series!

Single dad Andy Shaw loves his job as a sports agent, with one exception: it doesn’t leave him much time for his kids. No parent likes being sidelined, so Andy decides to hire someone to share the workload. But when one of the hottest agents in the industry applies, Andy knows that this deal is definitely trouble.

Danicka Douglas works her butt off, but being an attractive woman in a testosterone-heavy industry isn’t exactly a cakewalk. She guards her professional reputation fiercely, which means no crushing on her gorgeous boss. But the more they ignore that sexy little spark, the more it sizzles…

Just when it looks like romance might be in the game plan, Dani is threatened by a stalker with dark intentions. To keep her safe, Andy must cross the line between professional and very personal…because this time, he’s playing for keeps.

Oh, Andy! I knew I would love you! You sat on my kindle while I (not so) patiently waited for Ehemann to publish Wild Heart. The restraint it took was extreme, but the pay-off was worth every agonizing day.

Since meeting Andy’s now ex-wife, Blaire, in Room for You, I’ve wanted him to find someone that challenged him and made him happy. I LOVE Andy. Have a mentioned that before? I LOVE him! I love how great of a father he is, even when he doesn’t always get it right. I love how he treats his nanny like a member of the family, and not the hired help. I love how he is always calm when dealing with his psychotic ex-wife, even when she deserves a punch in the throat. I love how good of a friend he is to Brody, Viper, and their respective clans. I love how gentle he is with Dani, how he takes his time with her, waiting until she’s feeling what he is. Did I mentioned I love him?

Dani provided great balance to Andy. Growing up without her mom, or any siblings, navigating a family like Andy’s could have proved difficult for her, but she just rolled with it. She needed them as much as they needed her. Her chemistry with Andy burned so bright, you could feel it spark off the page. As much as she tried to deny him at the start, there was no denying the connection they shared was intense, and desperate to be explored.

The suspense element was a great addition to the story. I thought I knew “who done it”, but clearly, Ehemann was full of surprises.  I really enjoyed the tension and drama it brought to the story

Even the Score was dialogue heavy (my favorite) and chock filled with excellent banter. Every scene with the three guys together just shined. I laughed right along with them. Another exemplary facet of Ehemann’s writing is her research. She takes the time to know her subject and gives you honest portrayals of what is happening. Everything feels authentic and gives the reader a much better experience.

Andy is not Brody or Viper, and that is one of the best things about Ehemann’s writing. Three guys, three completely differently written books. Brody is sweet and an eternal optimist, Viper is broody and a live wire, and Andy is steady and driven. We are not getting the same story, packaged differently. We are getting original, unique stories that pull me in and keep me engaged until the very last word.
