Falling for Danger by Chanel Cleeton — BECKY’S REVIEW

falling for danger review photo

I’ve read books with a similar premise and I was given an arc.

5 stars

Kate Reynolds has just graduated from college and is determined to make it on her own. Her job as a junior political analyst at the CIA is a dream come true and the perfect opportunity to find answers about the night that’s plagued her for four years—the night she lost her fiancé, Matt, on a Special Forces mission in Afghanistan. Kate’s consumed with uncovering the truth and avenging the man she loved and lost, even if it means risking her own life to prove that his death wasn’t an accident.

When she gets too close to discovering what happened that fateful night and danger arrives on her doorstep, Kate’s stunned by the man who comes to her rescue. Together, they begin to dig for the truth, fighting to stay alive as they’re dragged down into a world of secrets and lies. But when the threat hits close to home, Kate must choose between vengeance and a future with the man who’s ignited a fire inside her that she thought died long ago.

Kate Reynolds comes from a political dynasty. Her father is a powerful Senator who has plans for a presidential run but Kate wants nothing to with her father or his political career. Kate’s world shattered when her fiancé Matt was killed in Afghanistan and Kate believes that her father had something to do with Matt’s death. After graduating from college, Kate lands a job with the CIA in hopes to uncover the truth about Matt’s death and her father’s possible involvement. When someone unexpected shows up to protect her, Kate becomes hell bent on finding out the truth, and puts her life and her heart on the line in order to uncover it.

There’s so much that I want to say about this book but at the same time, I don’t want to give anything away because Chanel Cleeton does a masterful job of crafting a suspenseful story and sucking her readers in right away. I recently read a book with a similar premise and Falling for Danger has exactly what that book was missing: danger and suspense. Kate will literally do whatever it takes to find out the truth, which had me on the edge of my seat and kept me up all night reading.

I haven’t read the other books in the Capital Confessions series but I cannot wait to get my hands on them. I really, really liked the character of Kate because she is sassy and stubborn and willing to fight for what she wants, which leads to some pretty hot and steamy scenes. I like that even though she has grit and tenacity, she’s also not afraid to show her vulnerability. I love the dynamic between Kate and her two sisters, Blair and Jackie, which makes me excited to go back and read their stories. And most importantly, I loved the love story. It was so incredibly emotional and often heartbreaking but I loved it.

From prologue to epilogue, Falling for Danger will definitely give you all of the feels. So go and read it!!!!!!!
