WHY I READ IT
Loved the blurb!
WHAT I RATED IT
WHAT IT’S ABOUT
Sexy, tatted up, underwear model Marcus Grayson is every girl’s dream—or more likely worst nightmare. He’s a player, a self-proclaimed bachelor for life, and he’s got no problem living up to his man-whore status. But when his older sister’s friend comes back from the past, he may just have the chance to turn some of his adolescent fantasies into reality.
Tessa Bradley is a self-sufficient, take-no-bull, single mother—well, now she is. Finally rid of her abusive, alcoholic ex, she’s making a new life for herself and catching up with old friends; the ones she was forced to break ties with because of her controlling husband. When she runs into Marcus, her friend Riley’s once-adorable turned smoking-hot little brother, she has no idea how he’s about to rock her world.
I have had this book on my kindle for quite some time. When playing Russian Roulette with my TBR list, Keep Me by Faith Andrews is what I stopped on, and I am so happy that I did.
This is the story of Marcus and Tessa. Tessa is an old friend of Riley, Marcus’s sister, and always saw Marcus as the annoying (but cute) little brother. Tessa is coming out of a horrific marriage and has a baby, Luca. She is not looking for love…she’s just looking to get by.
Marcus, colorfully described by his sister, is a man-whore. He is a famous underwear model and women basically fall at his feet. He has never been with a girl twice and has no intention of being with someone long term.
Marcus has a history of hooking up with Riley’s friends and then ditching them. This has caused Riley to lose a lot of her friends and she has had enough. When Marcus sets his sights on Tessa, Riley freaks, telling Tessa she’s nothing but a conquest to him. She also tells Marcus that Tessa isn’t stable enough to begin a new relationship. I actually spent most of the book despising Riley.
Thankfully, Marcus and Tessa couldn’t care less what Riley says. Their attraction to each other is too intense to be ignored. They find ways to sneak around and be alone. Each time they are, it’s explosive. Marcus and Tessa have insane chemistry and it jumps right off the page at you. You can believe their insta-attraction. Marcus has never been in a relationship, but he is so in tune with Tessa that it becomes natural for him. What he thought would be work, isn’t. Marcus shows Tessa what the love of a real man can be like, and even with all of her insecurities, she is hooked.
It’s not all roses for Marcus and Tessa, however. There are a lot of issues to be worked out. Marcus’s whorish ways and a scheming slut aside, Tessa has a nightmare of an ex-husband and he isn’t finished with her. I found myself frantically reading the last eight chapters to find out what happened. This was one of those books I just couldn’t put down. I was completely caught up in the lives of these characters and cannot wait to read more of Faith Andrews work.
