WHY I READ IT

It’s Kristen Ashley… no more needs to be said.

WHAT I RATED IT

WHAT IT’S ABOUT

The ride of her life . . .
Once upon a time, Carissa Teodoro believed in happy endings. Money, marriage, motherhood: everything came easy—until she woke up to the ugly truth about her Prince Charming. Now a struggling, single mom and stranded by a flat tire, Carissa’s pondering her mistakes when a vaguely familiar knight rides to her rescue on a ton of horsepower.

Climb on and hold tight . . .
In high school, Carson Steele was a bad boy loner who put Carissa on a pedestal where she stayed far beyond his reach. Today, he’s the hard-bodied biker known only as Joker, and from the way Carissa’s acting, it’s clear she’s falling fast. While catching her is irresistible, knowing what to do with her is a different story. A good girl like Carissa is the least likely fit with the Chaos Motorcycle Club. Too bad holding back is so damned hard. Now, as Joker’s secrets are revealed and an outside threat endangers the club, Joker must decide whether to ride steady with Carissa—or ride away forever . . .

JENN’S REVIEW

Here is all you need to know about Ride Steady. As a confessed KA addict who has read her books over and over, I can say with complete certainty that Ride Steady is one of her best books to date. Not since Law Man, have I wanted to immediately flip back to the front and start it all over again. Coming from a girl who thinks Tate, Joe, Mitch and Shy walk on water, that is saying something. Carson “Joker” Steele will have his hooks in you from the heartbreaking prologue and I promise you, he won’t let go.

“Carson Steel was gone. The only place that name existed was on his license. He was Joker.”

Carson and Carissa went to high school together and always admired each other from afar, but Carson’s home life was unsafe and just plain sucked. While he knew he was destined for a better life, he wasn’t going to drag all the beauty that was Carissa into it. She was “golden”, and Carson knew he needed to stay away from her so Carissa could have the life she deserved. He had no idea the path she would go down after he walked away from her.  Former Homecoming Queen, Carissa Teodoro isn’t living the fairytale life she always felt was waiting for her. So desperate to have the family that was taken from her, she stayed with her high school boyfriend, hoping for her happily ever after. She didn’t get it.

Life may not be going the way Carissa planned, but that doesn’t mean she is going to work her tail off to  make it perfect for her adorable nine-month old son, Travis. Little does Carissa know, a flat tire on the highway will set her in motion a new life. It just might be the path she was intended to be on all along.

There isn’t just one thing that makes Ride Steady so phenomenal. It’s multi-dimensional. The writing, as always is just top notch. KA creates these worlds that you just fall into, never wanting to leave. Even though each book is a complete story, they build on each other. You never have to say goodbye to your favorite characters. In Ride Steady, we spend time with Lee, Hank, Knight, Mitch (MINE), Brock and more. We delve deeper into Chaos and find out a bit more about their dealings and fight to keep their club and surrounding area clean. We even get a small glimpse into High, who’s story is coming next.

Ride Steady is more than a love story. It’s a story about brotherhood, about taking care of what and who belong to you. It’s a story about making things right. The way Chaos stepped up for Carissa, before they even really get to know her was beautiful. To quote a favorite KA girl, it was “righteous.” Chaos takes care of their own, whether it is a single mom just trying to make a better life for her child, or a prostitute who meets an untimely demise.

“We’ve all had our times. And if we’re lucky, we’ve all had people that took our back during those times. You’ve been unlucky, honey. But your luck has changed. Roll with it.”

KA is all about the alpha male and the kick ass heroines. Ride Steady was no exception…with a bit of a twist. In typical KA fashion, the man pursues the women, but in Ride Steady, Carissa saw something in Joker; she wasn’t sure what, she just wasn’t ready to let go. So, she inserts herself in to his life. Joker, having wanted Carissa for years, pushes her away… until he just can’t push anymore. Their love didn’t happen overnight, but it came easy… the way it was always meant to be..steady.
