WHY I READ IT

WHAT I RATED IT

5 stars

WHAT IT’S ABOUT

Gabe, Jace, and Ash: three of the wealthiest, most powerful men in the country. They’re accustomed to getting anything they want. Anything at all. For Gabe, it’s making one particular fantasy come true with a woman who was forbidden fruit. Now she’s ripe for the picking…

When Gabe Hamilton saw Mia Crestwell walk into the ballroom for his hotel’s grand opening, he knew he was going to hell for what he had planned. After all, Mia is his best friend’s little sister. Except she’s not so little anymore. And Gabe has waited a long time to act on his desires.

Gabe has starred in Mia’s fantasies more than once, ever since she was a teenager with a huge crush on her brother’s best friend. So what if Gabe’s fourteen years older? Mia knows he’s way out of her league, but her attraction has only grown stronger with time. She’s an adult now, and there’s no reason not to act on her most secret desires.

As Gabe pulls her into his provocative world, she realizes there’s a lot she doesn’t know about him or how exacting his demands can be. Their relationship is intense and obsessive, but as they cross the line from secret sexual odyssey to something deeper, their affair runs the risk of being exposed—and vulnerable to a betrayal far more intimate than either expected.

JACQUE’S REVIEW

I LOVED this book.  It’s my favorite book from Maya Banks and it was the first of many that I read of hers.

Mia has had a crush on Gabe ever since she was a teenager.

“You were my teenage crush.  I’ve fantasized about you for years but you’ve always been so far out of my league.”

Gabe has always seen Mia as his business partner and best friend’s little sister.  He had watched her grow up and when he sees her again at 20, his feelings toward her change.  But being 14 years older than her he felt he needed to wait a few more years before pursuing her.  Now that she’s 24, his attraction has become somewhat of an obsession and Gabe is about to make his move.

“She was an obsession, and it made him uncomfortable to admit, but she was a drug in his veins he had no desire to cure himself of.”

Gabe makes her a job offer as his “personal assistant”…and we all know what that really means!  It’s just a front for what he really wants …Mia.   Having been burned by a previous marriage and having certain sexual needs, all women that Gabe has a relationship with must sign a “contract”…including Mia.  Mia agrees knowing what the contract really means.

“I’ll own you, he said bluntly. “Body and soul.  You’ll belong to me.”

Mia’s one stipulation is that her brother, Jace, never finds out about the relationship.

Their relationship grows and I found that I really liked them together.  They have their issues but are able to work through them.  Gabe wants to come clean with Jace and they make the decision to tell him about their relationship.

You have to get the book to find out how it ends. You are pulling for them to be together through the entire book.  Mia knows what she has always wanted but it’s more Gabe that has the hang ups.

Gabe is a strong alpha male, who wants his women submissive.  Mia never thought of herself that way but finds herself naturally submitting to Gabe.

If you have not read Maya Banks, I recommend this one as a first read of hers.
