WHY I READ IT
It’s no secret I love a good romantic suspense.
WHAT I RATED IT
WHAT IT’S ABOUT
The second Perfect Gentlemen novel from the New York Times bestselling authors of the Masters of Ménage series.
Privileged, wealthy, and wild: they are the Perfect Gentlemen of Creighton Academy. But the threat of a scandal has one of them employing his most deceptive—and seductive—talents…
Recruited into the CIA at a young age, Connor Sparks knows how dirty the world can be. Only when he’s with his friends can he find some peace. So when an anonymous journalist threatens one of the Perfect Gentlemen, Connor vows to take down the person behind the computer, by whatever means necessary—even if it means posing as his target’s bodyguard.
Publishing a tabloid revealing Washington’s most subversive scandals has earned Lara Armstrong the ire of the political scene—and a slew of death threats. To keep herself from ending up a headline, Lara hires a bodyguard, a man as handsome as he is lethal.
When the bullets start to fly, Lara is surprised to find herself in Connor’s arms. But as they begin to unravel a mystery that just might bring down the White House, Lara is devastated when she discovers Connor’s true identity—and finds herself at the mercy of forces who will stop at nothing to advance their deadly agenda.
It’s no secret that I am a sucker for a well done romantic suspense. It might be surprising that I love the types of suspense that doesn’t end on a relationship cliffy, but leaves a lot of questions unanswered at the end of the book. (Call me a masochist.) Seduction in Session had all of this, and a whole lot more!
I read Seduction in Session directly after finishing Scandal Never Sleeps, book 1 in the series. (No joke, it may have been 3 am when I finished SNS, but I still immediately jumped into SIS!) At first, I was afraid that I was not going to connect with the heroine, as she was a vegan. As much as I respect people who choose this lifestyle, I was afraid that my love for a juicy cheeseburger or steak was going to impede my reading enjoyment. I was very, very wrong. Lara is a very strong, idealistic female that still remains open and accepting of other view points, and I loved that about her! She was a truth seeker, and out to share the truth with those it may impact. (Cryptic, I know. But I refuse to post spoilers!)
I had already connected with Connor in the previous book, so I was feeling pretty protective over him until I realized that I could love Lara. The chemistry between these two was really good, and I really enjoyed the sexy scenes.
There were a lot of twists and turns in the story, and at one point I found myself wanting to throw my Kindle, screaming “Everybody’s a suspect!” because I could not figure out who was guilty! Just when you think the mystery surrounding Maddox’s plane crash has been solved, something else is discovered, and we’re all left scratching our heads! One minute I am questioning the innocence of a main character or one of the Perfect Gentlemen, the next I find myself pleading with the authors (because they can totally hear me, right?) to exonerate them! I have more unanswered questions swirling around in my head than I even thought I could have, and so many different ways I think the plot could go. The authors did such a great job with the plot, that even I couldn’t figure it out, and I have predicted other suspense dramas on page 2 before!
I was so hooked on the book, I spent my entire day in bed reading, because I just could NOT put it down! It may be only the second book I read in 2016, but it will most likely end up on my Best Books of 2016 list! Anyone who loves a good romance AND a good suspense will love this book! I cannot wait for the next book to come out!
