What it’s about

Whether it’s fast cars or fast women, Stefano Ferraro gets what he wants. When he’s not fodder for the paparazzi, he commands Ferraro family businesses—both legitimate and illegitimate.

While their criminal activity is simply a rumor yet to be proven, no one knows the real truth. The Ferraros are a family of shadow riders capable of manipulating light and dark, an ability Stefano thought ran in his family alone—until now…

With little left to her name, Francesca Cappello has come to Chicago in hopes of a new life. She wasn’t expecting to attract the attention of a man with primal hunger in his eyes, driven to claim her as his to protect and to please. And if he discovers her secret, it could ruin her…

This was my first ever Christine Feehan book, and I was absolutely blown away! I read the blurb and knew I had to read this book! From page one, I was intrigued. Who are these shadow riders? What can they do?

I have dabbled in a bit of paranormal, but I am incredibly picky and tend to shy away from shifters, vampires, and the likes. The shadow riders intrigued me, and I was really interested in giving them a shot. And now, I am HOOKED! I love the Ferraro family, and most especially Stefano. Sigh. Stefano made me swoon so many times, I lost count!

I really felt the connection to Francesca. She was a girl on the run, ad while she had been beaten down, she was not broken. Her inner strength and desire to not just survive, but find a way to live again, was inspiring. She was independent, but still vulnerable. Something I think many women can relate to.

When Stefano and Francesca were between the sheets, you could really feel the chemistry. The love, desire, and bond was palpable.

Christine does a wonderful job of presenting you with a love story that you can enjoy, while still keeping the suspense aspect fresh in your mind. Many authors struggle to find the balance between giving a good romance, and keeping to the facts of a good suspense, but Christine is a master of paranormal romantic suspense!

Overall, I loved this first book in the new series, and will be waiting with baited breath to see what is in store next for the Ferraro family!
