Have you always wanted to be a writer?
Yes. Ever since I was young, I’d come up with stories and write about anything that allowed my mind to wander and indulge in a fantasy world. Granted…I always loved loved. It wasn’t until I was in my early twenties I realized I wanted to write romance novels.
Are you a full time writer? If so, what did you do in your “previous life?”
I am a full-time writer. In a past life, I studied Human Development and Family Sciences and taught pre-school.
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self?
Ha! So, so much advice! But I think my younger self would tell me to take a hike and be stubborn to figure it all out on her own.
Do you work on one storyline at a time or do you have multiple storylines in the pipeline?
Usually I work on one book at a time. However, I have multiple stories and plots going on the side. I don’t actually start working on the manuscript though until one book is completed.
Let’s play favorites! Who is your favorite character you’ve written?
Oh boy…can a mama pick favorites? 🙂 I like all my characters in different ways because they each have a special quality that stands out. There was something unique and wonderful about writing each of them.
Have you experienced any of your stories personally?
There are pieces of experiences I’ve had that come out in stories. I don’t write specifically about myself, but if you say an awesome line or make an impact, I likely will write about it…and you!
What are your biggest distractions?
My cell phone.
What is your least favorite part of the writing or publishing process?
Writer’s block. It IS a real thing and it sucks hard core!
Do you find it difficult, or challenging to write from the male POV?
Actually, it’s my favorite part! Writing in the male POV is where all the fun happens. You get to tap into your dude side and just let the alpha swagger breathe in the character.
What activities do you enjoy outside of writing?
I love baking. My jeans don’t particularly appreciate that once I’m on my third batch of cookies, but it’s just so relaxing. And yummy!
Do you have a favorite author or book?
Marina Adair is my favorite romance author.
Do you ever find yourself jumping up from the dinner to table to jot down a scene that just ran through your head?
Yes! And it freaks out everyone around me. But a girl has to do what a girl has to do when the creative thoughts hit!
What does your writing workspace look like?
It varies. My couch, my bed, kitchen table…every once in awhile my office.
Can you tell us what you are working on next?
Of course! I’m working on a small town spice romance and Brazen book three in the Search and Seduce series.
What is in your purse right now?
Mostly trash…it’s bad…but there’s also change, legos, gum, lip gloss, and 3 take out menus to this great Thai place by my house. Everytime I go in, I grab a menu and forget where I put it…it’s always in my purse. I’m now starting a collection.
Do you have a favorite scene or book of your own?
Break Me Slowly will always have a special place in my heart. It was personal and just a different experience from start to finish in the writing process. But one of my favorite scenes I’ve ever written was in Crave when Trade (hero) sees the heroine for the first time.
