We are very excited to be featuring Author Ryan Michele this week. She has released multiple series in different genres including paranormal and MC romance. With her newest release Blood and Loyalties she’s giving us mafia romance as well.
Have you always wanted to be a writer?
Nope. I didn’t want to write until 2013. I had a story in my head, a friend of mine said write it down, I did. Then I began my writing.. Are you a full time writer? If so, what did you do in your “previous life?”
I am a full time writer. I have been since september of 2014. I was a teacher in my previous life, shaping and molding children. Yikes! LOL
If you could go back in time, what advice would you give your younger self?
One, listen to your mother, she knows a lot even if you think she’s full of shit. Your heart will be broken, but it works out in the end.
Do you work on one storyline at a time or do you have multiple storylines in the pipeline?
Multiple. I have a problem with staying on task. I could have as many as 3 books going at one time. Right now surprisingly, I only have one. I’m sure that will change tomorrow.
Let’s play favorites! Who is your favorite character you’ve written?
Princess from Ravage Me. She was so much fun. Oh wait! I loved Kenly from the Raber Wolf Pack too. I loved every word from her. Hard to pick one.
Have you experienced any of your stories personally?
Safe, my very first story is near and dear to my heart. I carry a lot of that story around. My current WIP (no its not the Ravage series) is way to close to me and it kind of freaks me out a bit. I’ve cried more writing this book then I care to admit!
What are your biggest distractions?
Spongebob. My children love to watch it when I need to write a sex scene. Total downturn.
What is your least favorite part of the writing or publishing process?
Hmmm. That’s a hard question. I think Formatting is. I just began to learn how to format my own books and that can be seriously stressful. I felt accomplished that I did Blood & Loyalties, but it was hard.
Do you find it difficult, or challenging to write from the male POV?
Nope, I think I write better from the male or a really dominate female. I’ve been told in reviews that ‘they could tell a man wrote it.’ I take that as a compliment. Truth is, I write like I talk. Curse words and all.
What activities do you enjoy outside of writing?
Reading. I also love just sitting outside and watching our ducks play in the pond. I love my kids and spend time with them, when they aren’t fighting. 🙂
Do you have a favorite author or book?
Yes, Kristen Ashley is my top favorite. Rock Chick Revenge and At Peace are my go to books. If I’m in a rut, I go to those.
Ever think you have a great idea for a book, only to find out someone released the same storyline already?
Of course. There are so many books out there, that a lot of the time it’s hard to come up with something no one else has ever thought of.
Have you ever had writer’s block and how do you work through it?
All the time. I read or clean my house.
Do you ever find yourself jumping up from the dinner to table to jot down a scene that just ran through your head?
Sure do. I even wake up in the middle of the night and have to jot something down quick.
What does your writing workspace look like?
I have 4 huge picture windows that line the wall of my living room. Against one of the walls, I have a table with my computer on top. I’m able to look outside at the pond (which the ducks distract me) and write. If not there, then on my laptop sitting in the livingroom while the kids run around.
Sharing your work with the public has to be scary. How do you respond to negative reviews?
I don’t. I have friends I talk too and leave it there.
Do you have any visuals for your characters from any of your books?
Sometimes. It just depends on the story.
Can you tell us what you are working on next?
I have Blood & Loyalties: A Mafia Romance coming out Oct 26th. I LOVE this story! I’m currently working on a very emotional close to the heart story. No worries though because I’ll be working on the next Ravage book soon.
What is in your purse right now?
Wallet, powder compact, pads, Advil, root beer hard candy, tick tacks and loose change.
Do you have a favorite scene or book of your own?
When Princess gets off in front of the guys on her bike. LOVED that scene.
Books by Ryan Michele
Ryan Michele has a huge obsession with reading, which only came to life after her best friend said she had to read Twilight. After reading that series, her entire world changed in the blink of an eye. Not only was she sucked into new worlds and all of the wonderful words authors put down on paper, she felt the urge to begin to write down the characters that played inside of her head. In doing so, Safe was born. Then Wanting You and the Ravage MC series.
When she’s not reading or writing, she spends time taking care of her two children and her husband, enjoying the outdoors and laying in the sun.
