Stepbrother Dearest by Penelope Ward – Jenn’s Review

You’re not supposed to want the one who torments you.

When my stepbrother, Elec, came to live with us my senior year, I wasn’t prepared for how much of a jerk he’d be.

I hated that he took it out on me because he didn’t want to be here.
I hated that he brought girls from our high school back to his room.
But what I hated the most was the unwanted way my body reacted to him.

At first, I thought all he had going for him were his rock-hard tattooed abs and chiseled face. But things started changing between us, and it all came to a head one night.

Then, just as quickly as he’d come into my life, he was gone back to California.

It had been years since I’d seen Elec.

When tragedy struck our family, I’d have to face him again.

And holy hell, the teenager who made me crazy was now a man that drove me insane.

I had a feeling my heart was about to get broken again.

WOW! Looking for a seriously steamy book with forbidden undertones? Look no further. Stepbrother Dearest blew me away from page one! I started this book when I should have been shutting down my kindle and going to bed. Instead, I thought I would get a few chapters done, and before I knew it, I had finished the whole book.

Greta was getting ready to meet her stepbrother, Elec for the first time. She knew nothing about him, only seeing one photo. Well, that photo didn’t do justice all the hotness that was Elec. Greta was completely taken with his bad boy persona. Not only did he look like a bad boy, complete with tattoos and piercings, but he acted the part as well. In fact, he was a complete jerk. Rude to everyone, saying whatever was on his mind regardless of who it hurt; Elec was the total bad boy package. Didn’t matter to Greta. She was wholly taken by Elec and continued to push through his barriers. Greta never gave up on Elec, as it seemed his father had, and so many other people from his past. She knew there was a person worth knowing underneath his “I don’t give a f**k exterior.” Just as an understanding was developing between them, Elec and Greta had to part, devastating both of them.

Together, Greta and Elec were explosive. I was frantically turning pages to see what would happen next, absorbing each and every word, sometimes going back and rereading entire passages. I am going to keep this review short, because there were so many gasp our loud moments, that I want you to experience unspoiled. You think the worst is over and then… BAM! You are thrown again! The only reason I took off a quarter of a star was because there was a point in the book that, to me, was a retelling.  While I found some of that part well done and did a nice job contributing to the storyline, I felt it was a just a bit long. This book is seriously going to knock you on your behind. Elec and Greta fight for, and give up on each other so many times, you never know which way they are going to go. Enjoy the incredible ride Stepbrother Dearest takes you on!
