A SOCIAL EXPERIMENT.
The concept was scary but exciting…
Marry a total stranger.
Live together for six months.
Journal everything. (Feelings. Fights. All of it.)
After six months, we each get $50K in trade for our journals, whether we stay married or not. But the goal is to commit to the experience and see if the relationship experts could put together the perfect matches.
I have never been lucky in love. This was my chance to find my soulmate.
I couldn’t wait to meet the man the experts felt was perfect for me.
My hopes were immediately dashed when I saw him at the altar.
Shit. I married my worst nightmare.
Talon is the lead guitarist for the band, Ashes and Embers. He is a one night stand kind of guy and widely known as “#cockstar on social media”. But he is starting to realize that he may be ready for more. It’s Talon’s mom that thinks she has the solution for him.
Being hurt before, Asia has written off men. Her best friend, Kat, thinks she found the perfect solution for her men problems.
They both agree to take part in a social experiment.
“…marry a total stranger that the research group matches you up with based on questions they ask…”
And guess who is matched up??? And even though, on the surface, neither is the other’s dream mate, they are determined to give it a try. And that’s where the fun begins.
Talon is the youngest of the Valentine boys. He can be a little rough around the edges because he’s never had a girlfriend or been in a relationship. But for someone that was known for one night stands and having meaningless sex, he becomes committed to this relationship.
Asia has some serious abandonment issues and she is apprehensive about getting close to Talon. Even though she is feisty and certainly speaks her mind, she is also afraid to trust.
Go along for the ride as this married couple get to know each other and watch their relationship grow. They have more in common they realize and start to take Talon’s Gram’s advice:
“I think, once you two stop thinking about what you were expecting, that you’ll see what you were given is better.”
But there are hurdles to overcome, tough decisions to be made and heartbreak. You will laugh and cry in this one. This story was not what I expected. There was much more depth and some heavy situations that need to be dealt with throughout the story.
I have quickly become a big fan of the Ashes and Embers series. Talon is the fourth book in the series and at this point I can’t even rank them. Every time I read one I think it’s just as good as the others. Another Ashes & Embers 5 star for me.
