Tattooed Emotions by Alicia Rae – BECKY’S REVIEW

tattooed emotions review photo

I normally don’t read books that have an emotional element (like cancer) but I was intrigued and given a copy for review

5 stars

Raelyn Jennings has survived the unthinkable. She’s been given a second chance to live, to breathe, to feel. Her ability to overcome such a traumatic hurdle has created armor around her heart. But beyond her shield is fear, a consuming deep one, of the unknown. Raelyn vows to herself that she’ll solely focus on the one constant in her life, her career as the CEO for a prestigious accounting firm.

Damien Heathman’s unrelenting determination has made him a powerful, respected man. He’s sexy and confident and utterly breathtaking. His dominance and strength is evident in every purposeful stride, every meaningful look, and every soft caress.
Raelyn has worked with Damien’s company, Heathman Enterprises, for many years, but they’ve never crossed paths—until now.

Damien’s presence fills a room. He steals Raelyn’s breath and sparks her broken heart back to life. Once Damien sets eyes on Raelyn, there is no turning back. He wants her, and he’ll stop at nothing to have her. Not even the dark secrets hidden behind his tattoos will stand in his way.

The chemistry is undeniable. The passion is palpable.

Can Damien convince Raelyn that he is worth the risk? Or will Raelyn allow her past to control her future, feeling the chance of another heartache is too great to bear?

Tattooed Emotions by Alicia Rae is very well-written and emotionally engaging right from the start. The story of Raelynn Jennings and her miraculous remission from a cancerous brain tumor sucked me right in and when Damien Heathman enters, the story heats up. Alicia Rae also provides us with a great supporting cast of characters who really allow us to see the central characters from all angles. Raelynn’s shady business partner Cale brings out Damien’s protective alpha but also Raelynn’s determination. There are even characters that bring out the green-eyed monster, which I absolutely love.

One of the best things about this story is the character of Raelynn. Battling cancer makes her determined to really live. Her traumatic upbringing cemented her status as a fighter but the battling cancer makes her truly want to live. She is not tormented and timid, waiting for the alpha to revive her. Raelynn is vibrant and lively and fights to keep living, even ignoring signs that perhaps her health is once again in jeopardy.  I loved that Damien was the quintessential alpha but that Raelynn softens him and that in the end, he’s the one fighting and providing courage and strength.

I rarely read books that deal with emotional subjects, like cancer, and when there is the possibility of a character’s death but I absolutely adored this book. I loved the emotional tug of this book; it was a change for me.  After I finished, I really felt like every emotion had been tattooed on my heart.

When I first got this book, I thought it was a new story that would soon be released. As I read it, more like devoured it, I kept telling myself how wonderfully well-written the advanced reader copy was (normally, there are still some kinks in the ARCs) and then I got to the end, where there was a preview of the second book and its release date was only a few weeks away. How on Earth did I miss this book the first time??? How on Earth did YOU miss this book the first time??? One-click this NOW before the second book, Tattooed Scars, is released.
