Because it’s K. Langston, and I love her!

What I rated it

What it’s about

SIX BROTHERS

EACH HOLDING A DIFFERENT BADGE OF THE LAW

EACH SWORN TO SERVE AND PROTECT

trust; firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.

LAPD Detective Reid Cunningham is content to keep the pain of losing his best friend buried deep. Dedicated to his job, he doesn’t have time to feel.

Much less love.

But when the past comes knocking at his door, he has no choice but to face his deepest and darkest fear.

Cassidy Sky, his best friend’s little sister, needs his help. Reid promised to watch over her and keep her safe, but he never planned on giving her his heart.

Katie’s Review

After getting to see a tiny glimpse of Reid in The Officer’s Promise, I couldn’t wait to get his book! I am pretty sure I tried to squeeze some of the details out of K when I was lucky enough to meet her in Chicago this past August, but alas, I was unsuccessful. Although I had to wait, Reid definitely was worth it!

From the first page, I was hooked. K does not shy away from bringing the emotion to the page! I felt my eyes prickling a few times, but  I think someone must have been cutting onions because books don’t make me cry anymore. I swear it wasn’t because my heart broke so many times for Reid and Cassidy.

Nope. Never…

Okay, maybe just a little.

Fine, I admit it. This book brought the feels, and even a few tears! I really loved it! I am such a sucker for a good police/ crime/ suspense romance, but I am very picky. The storyline must be believable, while the romantic relationship must also feel natural, unforced, and not mentioned as an afterthought. There is a delicate balance to the right formula, and K has absolutely nailed it!

Reid and Cassidy together are so steamy, I needed to step away from the book once or twice for fear of combustion. You can really feel the pull between them, and the sparks ignite.

There were a few twists and turns along with a few surprises I didn’t see coming that had me stepping back and questioning so much! I wish I could say more, but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone.

K had found the perfect balance of suspense and steam, and I cannot wait for the next of the brothers books!
