The Neighborhood by Stylo Fantome- Amy’s Review

After stumbling upon and falling head first into The Neighbors I knew I had to read the rest of Kayta’s story.  But beyond that Stylo is quickly becoming a one click author for me.

Things a bad neighbor can do to you: 1. Have loud parties late at night 2. Refuse to mow his lawn 3. Steal your newspapers 4. Rip your heart out and walk all over it Katya Tocci is willing to admit that she may have bitten off more than she could chew. Liam Edenhoff showed her a side of life she’d been missing out on – sex and friendship and tacos. But then he betrayed her. Wulfric Stone taught her that big surprises can come from unexpected places – like from a surly, aggressive, withdrawn bastard. But then he broke her heart. Now one of them wants forgiveness, and the other wants forever. And Katya? She just wants to forget. Who knew neighbors could be so difficult?

Amy’s Review

When we left our little triangle of neighbors everything had gone to hell and I really had no idea where the author was going to take this story.  Forgive and forget?  Get rid of them both and move on?  Become a lesbian, a nun, or just take a vow of celibacy?   I was eager to find out what was in store for Katya, how she would recover from the damage done in book one, and if Stylo would be able to redeem Wulf and Liam in the eyes of the readers.

I’m really not sure why I questioned it or her.  This story was told beautifully.  It was emotionally charged and had a current of energy running through it from start to finish.  I was never sure how a character would react.  When I expect anger, there was laughter.  When I expected shouting and things thrown, there were whispered words and silent tears.  It was a guessing game from start to finish with no clear front runner until close to the end.

What I loved most about this book was the details we got about everyones lives.  I feel like I came out of it with a better understanding of all the characters.  What made them how they are, what could cause them to change, if change was even possible.  There was also the added fun of a slew of new characters that add depth to the storyline and also added insight into our naughty trio.

I think this was the perfect outcome for this series, these characters.  When all was said and done it could have only been this way.  And as always I look forward to what Stylo will astound us with next.

Indie author, writing anything that pops into her head … which happens to usually be kinda mushy and a lot smutty.
