WHAT IT’S ABOUT

When Tate Collins meets airline pilot Miles Archer, she doesn’t think it’s love at first sight. They wouldn’t even go so far as to consider themselves friends. The only thing Tate and Miles have in common is an undeniable mutual attraction. Once their desires are out in the open, they realize they have the perfect set-up. He doesn’t want love, she doesn’t have time for love, so that just leaves the sex. Their arrangement could be surprisingly seamless, as long as Tate can stick to the only two rules Miles has for her.

Never ask about the past.
Don’t expect a future.

They think they can handle it, but realize almost immediately they can’t handle it at all.

Hearts get infiltrated.
Promises get broken.
Rules get shattered.
Love gets ugly.

JENN’S REVIEW

Oh, the feels in this book!! Feels for days! Emotions I didn’t even know I had! This is Colleen Hoover’s best work to date. Nothing compares. I don’t even know how to go about writing a decent review for this book. I just want you to go and read it. GO READ IT! If you feel like you need more convincing, I’ll give it a shot.

Fans of Colleen Hoover know she has this unbelievable ability to make words on a page come alive. That is what happens in Ugly Love; the words just fly off the screen. From the moment we meet Miles and Tate we want to root for them and we don’t know anything about them. Miles is an airline pilot who lives across the hall from Tate’s brother, Corbin. Tate is moving in with Corbin until she gets her own place. That is when she meets Miles. Their attraction is obvious, but Miles doesn’t want a girlfriend. He’s not the kind of guy in many other novels that would rather have a bunch of random hook-ups. Miles hasn’t been with a girl in six years. Yes, you read that right, six years. He’s been without a girl so long that Corbin thinks he’s gay. Miles is definitely not gay, but something from his past has forced him to shut love out completely.

Sex=Okay. Love=Not Okay

The attraction Miles feels towards Tate is the first he has felt towards anyone in those six long years. But she needs to understand that it is just sex and it can NEVER be anything else, and Miles has just two rules for Tate to follow.

Don’t ask about my past. Never expect a future”

Tate starts out on board with the whole just sex plan, but it quickly becomes more for her and how could it not. Miles may try to distance himself from Tate; not texting when he is away, or refusing to make eye contact when they are being intimate, but he is starting to slip. As much as he might want Tate, he will never allow himself to have her. The deeper Tate falls for Miles, the more we watch her heart break over and over again. Our own heart breaks right along with her, thanks to the breathtaking imagery of every single scene.

“He inhales a shaky breath while looking down at my mouth. ‘You make it so hard to breathe.’”

While Miles refuses to tell Tate anything about himself, we get flashbacks of his past with Rachel shown to us from Miles POV. These are more than just flashbacks. They are pure poetry. The way the chapters are written and the words flow across the page sends you back in the past with Miles. These chapters had a Slammed feel to them.  You can feel the utter love and determination Miles and Rachel have to be together, despite all obstacles they face. Even knowing that this was a story about Tate and Miles, I found myself rooting for Miles and Rachel; all the while knowing that something tragic had to happen to them for Miles to be so unequivocally broken. Three words. Chapter Thirty-Two. I could feel my shattered heart pounding out of my chest. I was as broken as Miles.

There are not enough stars in the sky for me to give this book. I have been a Colleen Hoover fan since I picked up my first copy of Slammed. Ugly Love is in a completely different galaxy. All I can do is beg you to read this book. Read it, Savor it, Devour it…

“But the second she opened her eyes and looked at me, I knew. She was either going to be the death of me…. Or she was going to be the one who finally brought me back to life”
