WHY I READ IT
Two words…. CJ TULLY
WHAT I RATED IT
WHAT IT’S ABOUT
Riley Tennyson has made a huge mistake.
At least, that’s what she keeps telling herself.
Showing up to her brother’s wedding pissed off and newly single, Riley seeks comfort in solitude and an open bar, until the gorgeous and irresistibly charming CJ Tully makes her a better offer―a wild night with the master of smooth-talking where nothing is off limits.
Riley does what any single woman would do, and a connection is made. One neither one of them can ignore. But when she comes home to the boyfriend she no longer thought she had, Riley buries her secret and begs CJ to do the same.
Forget about each other. It was a mistake. That’s all it was… right?
Desires are hidden. Distance is kept. Until one night CJ makes the ultimate sacrifice, and Riley can no longer avoid the man she can’t stop thinking about.
Not with him sleeping down the hall…
If I only had three words to use to describe CJ and Riley’s story, it would be WORTH THE WAIT. Thankfully, I have many more words at my disposal, and I am going to use them all. Daniels has been teasing us with CJ’s story for over a year now, but other obligations came first. So we patiently waited for CJ and Riley to grace our kindles, and they lived up to every ounce of hype that preceded them.
Any adjective you could think of to describe the best guy, could be used to describe CJ Tully. Is he perfect? Yup. Pretty sure he is. I can’t find any flaws, and I dare you to even try. Every time he called Riley “darlin‘” I turned into a puddle of goo. As the newest member of the Ruxton clan, we knew the least about CJ, but we got our fill this time. I certainly didn’t think it was possible to knock Luke off his throne, but CJ all but kicked him to the curb. My favorite part of CJ was how he anticipated Riley’s needs. He was so in tune with her and her feelings. He was fully immersed in their relationship before Riley even realized there was a relationship. He was willing to play the friend card and wait her out. For a total alpha (and boy is he EVER), his patience was remarkable.
Riley was a little lost in her love life, but damn if CJ didn’t help to light her way. Fresh off a horrible relationship, Riley needs to be friends with CJ. She needs to trust herself first, before jumping into another relationship. Riley is the girl you want to be friends with. She is just so real. I took to her instantly, even with all her insecurities. She was young, and still making her way, and her mistakes made sense. I loved her close relationship with Beth, and how easily she fit in with the other girls.
The cameos from all our favorite Alabama Summer friends really helped to make this book. I loved the banter between characters, but my absolute favorite scene is towards the end of the book between Reed and CJ. While I loved him, Reed’s book was my least favorite of the series, but after What I Need, I was able to view him, and his utter devotion to his sister with fresh eyes.
There are so many outstanding scenes, lines, and moments in What I Need, my highlighter got a workout. I have over one hundred of them!! This book was worth every single second of the extended wait.
