I am a sucker for a good romantic suspense book.

Ever since he rescued her from a dangerous kidnapper, Mystery Mullins has wanted Axel Dillon. When he returned her to her Hollywood father and tabloid life, she was grateful…and a little in love. Mystery wasn’t ready to let Axel go, even after the soldier gently turned her away because, at nineteen, she was too young.
Now, six years later, Mystery is grown, with a flourishing career and a full life—but she’s still stuck on Axel. Disguised, she propositions him in a bar, and the night they spend together is beyond her wildest dreams. Mystery steels herself to walk away—except the sheets are barely cold when her past comes back to haunt her.
Once he realizes Mystery isn’t the stranger he thought, Axel is incensed and intrigued. But when it’s clear she’s in danger, he doesn’t hesitate to become her protector—and her lover—again. And as the two uncover a secret someone is willing to kill for, Axel is determined to claim Mystery’s heart before a murderer silences her for good.

Wicked For You follows the story of Mystery Mullins, a young Hollywood royalty type, and Axel Dillon, a man from the wrong side of the tracks. Axel is a former military man who rescued Mystery from an unknown kidnapper 6 years ago. They had spent days in the desert after her rescue, relying on each other to survive. Multiple shootouts and a few close calls later, they make it safely back to civilization.
Fast forward to present day, and Mystery has not been able to forget Axel. She thinks just one night with him will “cure” her of her love for him. Mystery makes her move, and gets her one night with Axel while wearing a disguise. Mystery flees, but unknown to her, danger is nipping at her heels. Axel tracks her down, and they quickly realize that even though they escaped her kidnappers 6 years ago, Mystery still isn’t safe. The pair must work together to uncover the mystery of Mystery’s kidnapping before it’s too late.

I loved the way the author found a way to balance the danger, action and adventure, but still made me feel the connection between the characters. The sex scenes were hot, and you could feel the steam coming off the pages. She incorporated BDSM into the scenes, but it was realistic in its escalation.

I can usually figure out a book’s twists in the first few chapters, but this book had some really good twists that even I didn’t see coming! This was also one of those books where you get sucked into the story so deep, trying to figure out who did it and what’s going to happen next, that you end up saying “one more chapter,” but the next thing you know, the sun is up, and you’ve just finished the book.

There were a couple parts that broke my heart, a couple characters I wanted to knock some sense into, and a few scenes I wanted to go back and relive for the first time again.

If you’re looking for a sexy alpha male with a fierce protectiveness who isn’t afraid to show his feelings or and claim his woman, then this is the book for you.

Note: This is the 10th book in the Wicked Lovers series, but can be read as a standalone. This was my first book I’ve read by this author, and you can bet I will be going back to read the rest of this series!
