Wild Card by Karina Halle – Jacque’s Review

WHY I READ IT

I picked this book up 1 – because I’m a fan of karina Halle, 2 – because it was on KU and 3 – because I love a good second chance romance!

WHAT I RATED IT

WHAT IT’S ABOUT

Rough, raw & rugged.
As the man in charge at Ravenswood Ranch, Shane Nelson has never been afraid to get his hands dirty. His sculpted physique isn’t the product of a gym, but of years of hard labor under a relentless sun. His straightforward, alpha tendencies come from a man who knows what he wants and goes after it.
And what he wants is Rachel Waters.
He’s never stopped wanting her.
They were childhood best friends, then teenage lovers who evolved into soulmates. But on one fateful night, Shane made a grave mistake, breaking both their hearts in the process.
Now, after six years, Rachel is back in the small, wild mountain town of North Ridge, BC.
Ready to face her past.
Ready to face Shane.
Ready to face his dark secret.
But is a second-chance at a one true love in the cards? Or will their wild hearts be broken once again?

JACQUE’S REVIEW

Shane and Rachel were it for each other…always had been.  Until Shane does the unthinkable and breaks her heart and she is devastated and leaves town. Years later she is back and those same feelings immediately rise to the surface.

I felt so bad for Rachel because she never understood why Shane did it.   And I was conflicted while reading this because I liked them both so much (I wanted to be mad at Shane but I just couldn’t be).  Seeing how they felt for each other years ago was so obvious!  Shane thought he was doing the right thing by her when all he did was break his own heart too.  It’s when he comes clean that Rachel needs to decide if she will forgive him.

This was such a great story that had me routing for these two til the end!!!
You know I love a HEA.   This is a great first book to a series that has me looking forward to the rest! buy apple
