WHY I READ IT
Cement Heart, and Viper captivated me last year, and I was interested to see where Beth would take him this time around.
WHAT I RATED IT
WHAT IT’S ABOUT
For Lawrence “Viper” Finkle, hockey isn’t just a sport, it’s a way of life. Since the first time he stepped onto the ice at just eight years old, he knew what he was meant to do, and he does it well. When his career takes an unexpected hit, and his relationship is pushed to the breaking point, he’s left sidelined and wondering what his future holds.
Just when he’s sure things can’t get any worse…they do.
Can Viper pull himself together in time to save his career, his girl, and his sanity? Or will he be permanently benched?
Oh Viper. Why do you do this to me? Why must you torture me time and time again? I give you my love, my support. I put up with your craziness, and yet you still feel the need to drive me to the brink of insanity. If you thought Cement Heart put you through the emotional wringer, brace, because he’s not done yet.
Viper is not your typical book boyfriend and that is what I love about him. He’s not going to woo you with wine and roses. He is not going to say all the gorgeous words that make you swoon. He’s going to make you work for it. But, this is what makes Viper, well, Viper. He a bit rough around the edges. He’s not always going to react the way you think he should, and while he takes a bit longer to come around, the payoff is huge. Viper is not sunshine and daisies. Viper is real life, and that is what I love about Ehemann’s books. She doesn’t necessarily give you the book you wanted, or expected. She gives you the book her characters need to tell, and by doing so, she gives you some of the most character driven stories I have ever read. You think you know what’s going to happen, but you don’t. You have no idea, and I LOVE that about Ehemann’s writing. The ride is always wild and never disappoints.
